Promotion of Natural Resources as a Tourist Potential of Herzegovina

Summary/Abstract: World Tourism Organization provides guidelines for the development of tourism and presumes that those countries with highly preserved nature will be of more interest to tourists. Natural attractions include climate, flora, fauna, relief and water bodies. Herzegovina as a tourist destination is characterized by the following specific features: various types of relief, Mediterranean, continental and mountain climate, rich vegetation, abundance of rivers, lakes, springs, waterfalls, underground streams, native crops, and the beauty of the natural landscape. However, the success of promoting tourist attractions depends on the quality of communication, coordination and coherence of promotional activities at the given tourist destination and their focus on the target market, which is a major shortcoming of the tourism sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
