To Read the Verse

Summary/Abstract: This paper thematizes the experience of rhythm by turning to anonyfhous body as an operative plane: to its involvement in a rhythm, to intense sense of presence and obsessed lucidity produced by rhythm. The paper concentrates on the rhythm of poetic, verse experienced by reading vocally. The polyrhythmic nature of modern poetry is exposed by case of Alfonsas Nyka-Niliūnas and the kinaesthetic movement of the verse is regarded as an event constituting an emergence of the world.
