Summary/Abstract: Progress implemented in agricultural production is conditioned by manyfactors. Among them, very important is agricultural producers attitudes. Therefore, themain aim of study was concentrate on self-assessment of the competence of agriculturalproducers in the process of modernization theirs farms. Particular attention was focusedon the farmers competence and education, sources of theirs knowledge and ways of itsupdating. The main source of information was the primary data collected through directinterviews conducted with the owners of 74 dairy farms in the warmińsko-mazurskievoivodeship. For the data’s analysis used descriptive statistics and the severity rating.Based on the survey, there was no connection between attaining the investment or notand the age and education. Hierarchy of competencies by of severity has shown that themost important in the process of modernization of dairy farms were being eager to learnand orientation to knowledge.
