Summary/Abstract: The main objective of this paper is to define the characterstics of Lithuanian interest groups and explore what impact they will have on the communication among Lithuanian and EU interest groups and on Lithuanian interest intermediation at the EU level. Lithuanian interest groups have obtained their own characteristics if compared with the old EU states. They have been determined by weak traditions of associabilty and civil society in Lithuania, lack of political culture traditions, deficient and constantly changing state institutional structures, different values, poor economic capacities of the state. This will create the impediments to the development of information channels and the communication among Lithuanian and EU interest groups, as well as determine for Lithuania a diversified pattern of interest intermediation within the EU. One is allowed to predict that Lithuania in Brussels would protect mostly the issues of businesses, but in carrying out that, it has more to rely upon the ‘national route’.
