Summary/Abstract: The paper considers cases of non-specific existential verbs expressing existence in Bulgarian and Czech on material from concrete fiction texts. There are a lot of examples in which the existential meaning is conditioned by the context. A scheme of the structure of the existential semantic field is proposed. The analysis is focused on the verbs of perception and the motional verbs meaning perception which manifest an existential meaning influenced by the context.
