Summary/Abstract: This article explores the hermeneutical understanding of the Word of God by first revealing its multilayered nature: Word as Holy Scripture, Word as the expression of God’s will for creation, and Jesus Christ as the last Word of God. In order for believers to hermeneutically approach the Word conceived in this way, the very concept of hermeneutics has to be expanded. Building upon, as well as assuming a reader’s pre-knowledge of the “Hermeneutical spiral” concept, the article features a hermeneutical approach which is an expression of the believer’s whole existence rather than just an interpretative skill. A believer’s interaction with the Word of God via Scripture is not reduced to a linear and causative interpretation and application, but rather includes a holistic participation within the all-inclusive Word. Verification of this kind of hermeneutical interaction with the Word is found in Creation theology which perceives God’s will and act of creation as the function of the authority of his Word. The Holy Spirit is recognized as the link of all the aspects of the Word of God and creation acts, thus mediating the new creation to the believer hermeneutically engaged with the Word. Finally, the whole process is headed in Jesus Christ who, via resurrection by the Spirit, saves the whole of creation by creating it anew.
