The gender image contained in the thematic issue of „ Tygodnik Powszechny”

Summary/Abstract: The article is a response to the question whether gender image contained in thethematic issue of “Tygodnik Powszechny” [TP] entitled “Gender: fakty i mity”[Gender: Facts and Myths] is reliable. The text’s author reconstructs the genderimage of TP on the basis of the analysis of the four statements: the article “Genderw Dolinie Kościeliskiej” [Gender in the Kościeliska Valley] by Rev. AdamBoniecki and the article “Być kobietą, być mężczyzną” [Being a woman, beinga man] by Rev. Jacek Prusak, the editorial discussion “Gender: Rozmawiajmyserio” [Gender: Let’s talk seriously] conducted by Artur Sporniak with MałgorzataFuszara, Magdalena Gawin and Zuzanna Radzik, and the breakdown of the selectedsocial events held in November and December 2013, entitled “Polskie awanturyo gender” [Polish fuss about gender]. The analysis leads to the conclusionthat the thematic issue of TP is not a reliable representation of gender. It does notdepict gender impartially and objectively, but it is involved in its defence to theextent that it contains untrue information, manipulation and significant concealments.
