Summary/Abstract: The article addresses the issue of the continued relevance of the deconstructive practice of ethical and political reading in the context of Polish contemporary literature. In view of allegations of the anachronism of Jacques Derrida’s thought, the article indicates that the work of the author of Politics of Friendship has only been partially assimilated, and proposes reading deconstruction from an ethical and political standpoint. This perspective helps to avoid the danger of eliminating ethical and (especially) political questions from postmodern literary studies or transforming them into a discourse of endless reflections on otherness that lacks agency and can easily fall victim to ideology.
