WILL THE MIGRATIONS BRING ABOUT THE COLLAPSE OF THE EUROPEAN UNION?

Summary/Abstract: The inflow of migrants we saw in 2015 caused the biggest crisis in the functioningof the European Union since its establishment. EU institutions and governments ofmember states responded too late and disproportionately to the scale of the problem. Consequently, two basic pillars of the European integration, namely the SchengenAgreement and the Dublin Regulations, were challenged. The main goal of the paperis to describe the problems ensuing from the mass inflow of immigrants. It presentsthe scale of the inflow, the instruments of the European migration policy andthe actions taken to regain control over migration processes in the EU. Moreover,the author proposes his own action strategy which should contribute to the resolutionof the problems caused by migrations, both in a shorter and longer perspective.
