Summary/Abstract: Our paper proposes an approach of a short text by André Gide, Amyntas, publication classified as travel notes and which presents the period during which Gide travavelled much in Africa. Our analysis focuses on Gide, the voyager sensations while he encounters the affrican soil and the african culture. In fact, we state that there are two dimensions that define Gide’s Africa : its nature – composed from sand, sun and water – and its culture, namely the authentical elements. By the contact with these two elements, Gide discovers his body, that is a stage in decovering himself.
