Summary/Abstract: In L’Homme révolté Camus developed an enigmatic “Mediterranean philosophy”. In this paper it is shown how Camus saw in this philosophy his answer to the “revolt” of the 19th and 20th century. Furthermore, it is a philosophy which has a political background in French politics, which hitherto has been overlooked.
