Summary/Abstract: Regardless of one’s strategy of life, ways of functioning in the post-modern realities are accompanied bylonging for stabilization. The human being always tries to live in ontological harmony. However postmodernismis to change rules of the game, it enforces new life strategies, because there are no greatnarratives, identity becomes work, the duty of man. Life has lost its cumulative nature. Modern life hasbecome liquid life.Modern man has uprooted from his original environment, he trusts the experts, symbols, goods asmeans of exchange, however, despite his work he still loses ground. Postmodernism evokes variation, which is why modern man is afraid of inadequacy. He attempts to reach the temporary, current identity, because he is responsible for his being in the world, for his identity. He is the creator of his own identity.Unfortunately, the right to choose one’s identity is the greatest source of discomfort. The human being is not authentic. By living according to the principles of postmodern world, he stageshis own life, he creates a drama, a feeling about his own life, which he will be happy to share with, forexample via social networks. He fakes his own image in his revealed privacy. He even desires temporaryapproval. Postmodern identity does not give comfort or safety, it has a hybrid nature, and what is important, its complexity of structure does not allow to distinguish it from other identities. The aim of this secular pilgrimage is stable identity which is impossible in the conditions of post-modernism,because what counts is “here and now”, this very moment. Everything affects the inability to obtainexistential stability, although naively we seek it.
