Summary/Abstract: This study highlights how King Ferdinand I succeeded to obtain the reconciliation with the Catholic Church at the end of First World War. Being catholic, King Ferdinand I was punished by the Holy See because he agreed to baptize and to educate his children in the Orthodox faith. This was the reason why, starting from 1900, the Crown prince of Romania was excommunicated by the Pope. Based on unpublished documents from Vatican’s Secret Archives, our study shows how complicated were the negotiations between this two parts and which were the conditions that King Ferdinand I had to accept to obtain the reconciliation with the Catholic Church at the end of First World War.
