Summary/Abstract: The aim of the research presented in the article was an attempt to answer the question: what kind of model of doctor-patient relations manifest health-care workers? Is – according to the traditional paternalistic recognition – a patient a case of sickness and it to be treated solely from a purely medical (instrumental) point of view? Whether – given the growing popularity of holistic health paradigm – is it an equal partner, with whom a doctor makes joint decisions and establishes pro-health action? And finally – in the light of recent approaches emphasizing economic and market conditions for medical services – is the patient a consumer, whose needs (health, psychological, social, etc.) should be carefully identified and satisfied at the highest level of quality? The study questionnaire was carried out in July and August of 2015. It was attended by 50 employees of public and private health care centers of Lower Silesia and Opole voivodeships. In view of the results, it turned out that the staff of public and private medical institutions are quite different in their approach to the patient. Employees of public institutions are in favor of paternalistic model doctor-patient relations, and personnel of private institutions – prefers the partnership model.
