Summary/Abstract: Fashion is a highly appreciated mechanism connecting clothing to various dimensions of individual and social differentiation. Therefore, the clothing market refers to the language of fashion and causes the widening of the meaning of the word of “fashion”. Wrocław Fashion Project: Coding and Modelling of Daily Dress is an interdisciplinary project that aims at showing how dress and dressing play an important role in daily life. They serve multiple functions, which are assigned also to fashion. The juxtaposed dynamics clash therein: conformism – self-expression, local – global, etc. Original research tools are being developed during the realization of the project; they allow the researchers to obtain large, complex collections of data. The article presents the contexts and difficulties in the study of everyday dress; it also displays the methods of gathering, standardizing, and analyzing the data that are applied in the project.
