Summary/Abstract: This article presents a closer look at the idea of minimalism as an individual strategy of consciuos consumption in everyday life. The minimalism, based on quantitative reduction in the amount of goods as well as the choice of better quality products, is becoming more and more popular, hence the scientific need to identify practices and values which are included in this idea. Qualitative analysis of narrative interviews with people who decided to identify with the minimalistic philosophy constitutes an emprical material which was used to answer the question about reasons standing behind the choice of this philosphy, determinants of consumer decisions and realms in which these decisions are made. Furthermore, this paper shows minimalism as a niche strategy, but significant in the hiperconsumption context, which allows to simplify the process of making everyday decisions, to gain extra free time and to improve an individual perception of the quality of life.
