Summary/Abstract: The Moravian historiographer Beda Dudík (1815–1890) is used to be considered a forgotten personality. One gains this impression when compares Beda Dudík with his Bohemian fellow František Palacký whose long lasting “second life” is demonstrated, among others, by numerous evidence in everyday experience of ordinary man uninterested in this personality. Despite this, Dudík’s “second life” is worth-thinking about. He appears less in public space and is usually visible only in places closely connected with the life of this educated Benedictine. He can be found much more in texts dealing with this personality, specialized texts as well as popular ones, which react to the importance of the Moravian historiographer in various periods, places and backgrounds. However, the particularity of Beda Dudík’s “second life” is still vivid and strong family tradition.
