The support systems for renewable energy sources in Poland

Summary/Abstract: Dynamically developing world needs more and more electricity. This trend has resulted in research on the use of renewable energy sources such as a wind and the sun. In Poland this sector of the economy is still in its infancy and needs an incentive to increase energy production from unconventional sources. The purpose of this article is to present the characteristics for the current support system of renewable energy sources and the analysis of the main assumptions of the auction model, which will enter into force soon. The author has also made an attempt to identify the threats posed by the introduction of a new support instrument. In particular parts of the article the legal framework and the main attributes of the support systems for renewable energy sources in Poland are outlined.
