Municipal Fund as the instrument the sustainable local development financing

Summary/Abstract: The article presents a new instrument of financial support for local development − Municipal Fund existing since January 2016. The activity consists, among others, of taking over the assets of the newly created special companies in the area of municipalities. The contribution of the community to the company, in order to cover a share, is apport in the form of real estate, financing granted to the Fund will take the form of a cash contribution. Company agreement will determine the schedule for the progressive repurchase of Fund’s shares by the company and their amortization. In the first part of the article, the authors present the principles and forms of cooperation between the Fund and the municipality. The second part is focused on the basic purpose of the article − the analysis of the potential benefits and obstacles in cooperation between the Municipality and Fund and its importance for the sustainable development of communities.
