Summary/Abstract: In Hungary rapid agglomeration process started in the fifties, and concerned mainly the capital and its environs. In the seventies the settlement network significantly changed, functional connections reinforced thus creating versatile settlement clusters. One decade later spatial delimitation started. The latest such delimitation was made in 2014. The aim of the analysis is to introduce the position of these areas in the socio-economic spatial structure of the country, and to enlighten the differences between individual units.
