Women’s sport in Poland: An invitation to diagnosis

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results of the exploratory qualitative research carried out in the beginning of2012 by the Social Action 2012 research team. The research aimed at reconstruction of the perspectiveof sportswomen on the benefits of professional sport, as well as specific challenges they have toface. The first part of the article elucidates the conceptualization of the research problem and methodologicalobstacles met during the research process; the second part presents the analysis of 16 IDIcarried with sportswomen. The preliminary research indicated the further research directions concerningthe sport of women in Poland, particularly in the area of gender discrimination.
