Virtual sports as a way of abolishing gender boundaries

Summary/Abstract: The article, based largely on own research and experience, describes the subject of the gender division within real life sport activities and indicates that console/computer games could be a tool thancan overcome gender boundaries. The first part of article presents the characteristics of virtual sports and the presence of women in this men’s world. In the further part, barriers which makes difficult elimination of gender boundaries in virtual sports are indicated. In last part, author tries tofind the answer for the question whether the perception of gender boundaries in the virtual worldand the possibility of their removal may affect the boundaries of gender in the “real” sport.
