Summary/Abstract: The district Nadodrze that is located in the north part of centre of Wrocław, shows significant changes since the last decade. Until recently it was a problem area, associated with pathological “dark side” of the city, gaining as a result of comprehensive revitalization activities a new life. The new residents have a big impact on changing of the district image. Thank to them a new quality of service is created and the cultural life is booming. The authors present evidence for the existence of gentrification process in Nadodrze. They show how the action of municipality and bottom-up community initiatives can minimize the conflict between native and migrant residents. They present a comprehensive revitalization process and the other, gentler face of gentrification.
