Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the significance of organizational survival, the category directly linked to the evolutionary approach in management and organizational routines’ dynamics. However, routines are embedded in a strong cultural context. The cognitive goal of the paper is to show various research perspectives as complementary in the field of dynamic organization. Theoretical-cognitive aims are concentrated on: 1) showing the units of organizational survival, 2) defining and presenting their substance, 3) clarifying the specifics of the adaptation processes, which they are subject. The results of that discussion lead to empirically useful conclusions. Finally, the considerations about linking the foundations of evolutionary and cultural approaches in management have been highlighted. The paper is a result of detailed literature studies.
