Summary/Abstract: The dynamic development of society at the beginning of the third millennium civilization caused noticeable changes that significantly affected the development of all spheres of social life, including education. These changes include: globalization and informatization of modern society, turning it into knowledge society, market society and open society. Characteristic features of these societies are: strengthening of integration and multiculturalism in education, its standardization and formation of a common educational space, strengthening the idea of lifelong education, development of distance education, adult education and postgraduate education, which is regarded as the basis of ensuring education quality at all its levels and helping sustain the productive capacity of the country.Global civilization changes determine the main directions of modernization of postgraduate education in Ukraine according to the model: global civilization change - the problem of Postgraduate Education - finding ways to develop programs and their solution their reflection in the content and forms of postgraduate education – accreditation and implementation of relevant variant, profiles for diversified educational programs - monitoring the quality of their implementation.The main areas of modernization of postgraduate education in Ukraine in the context of global change are: development and implementation of flexible content of postgraduate education standards based on the balance of invariant and variable components; strengthening of the autonomy of institutions of postgraduate education and their transformation into centers of support and quality assess of postgraduate education at various levels (local, regional, national); establish international links with foreign universities and scientific institutions researching the postgraduate education through the establishment of UNESCO Chairs; convergence of academic and university science, development of scientific schools on problems of postgraduate education etc.
