Summary/Abstract: The author analyzes the Bolsheviks’ policy in 1920’s Soviet Ukraine in what concerns the most appropriate ways of raising the new generation of children according to the Marxist-Leninist principles. One of the best modalities was to destroy the family institution, as it was considered a conservative medium, in which “unhealthy” values such as religion were able to resist. Thus, the Soviet authorities undertook measures which were intended to turn the young generation into an instrument, dependent not on the family, but on the state.
