Summary/Abstract: Unique in its diversity, the Balkan region can be considered as anattractive destination for a variety of researchers. Presented in aform of a chronological analysis, this study focuses on the work offour female researchers who conducted fieldwork in Albania at thebeginning of the 20th century, during communism, and shortly aftercommunism during the transitional period, in order to capture theevolution of the female fieldwork in the Balkans over time. Sincethe fieldwork methodology stresses family, household andpatriarchy, this study can contribute to the conceptualization of thepolitical culture within the Balkan society
