Summary/Abstract: The family is the basic social unit which plays an important role incare, nurturing and socialization of children. This paper analyzes the impact ofthe change of family structures on child wellbeing in Westerndeveloped countries and Western Balkan countries during the lastdecades. Using secondary data, it concludes that more longitudina land cross-sectional research is needed to understand the directimpact of the change of the family structure on child wellbeing. Ithighlights the importance of application of multidimensiona linterventions that promote a sustainable family institution andchild wellbeing.
