River management regulations in Poland

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to discuss selected aspects of river management in Poland. First, the author explores the role of rivers and river basin in ecosystem with particular attention given to pros and cons of regulated and unregulated rivers. Next section of the article is devoted to ineffective river management in Poland and its impact on ecosystem and economy. Legal basis of water policy and regulatory efforts are discussed as well.
