Summary/Abstract: This article is devoted to problems of Ukrainian studies in Europe and the world, which were discussed at the 8th International Congress of Ukrainian Studies, which was held on 21–24 October 2013 in Kyiv. The Congress was held under the title of: “Taras Shevchenko and the World Ukrainian Studies: Historical Interpretation and Modern Reception” on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of birth of the great poet. Special attention was paid to Ukrainian studies in Poland, successfully represented by professors Stefan Kozak, Agnieszka Matusiak, Valentyna Sobol, Halina Korbych and a number of other researchers. Different researchers from many countries took part in the discussions and the round tables during the Congress. It was an attempt to present the current state of Ukrainian studies and prospects of scientific and educational institutions as well as the development of foreign centers promoting a positive image of Ukraine in the world
