Summary/Abstract: The text is reportage, however, it came about as a result of participation in a research project. It combines a reporter’s perspective with that of an anthropologist, according to the principle that every reporter is supposed to have many of the qualities of an ethnographer in them, especially when they are examining issues related to cultural values. The text is the result of observations of audience members made at both the Jarocin Festival and the OFF Festival in Katowice. It raises issues concerning the values associated with music, authenticity and subcultures.
