Summary/Abstract: The authoress analyses the structure and the poetic world of two pastorals by Marin Držić: Tirena and Plakir. Tirena is a classical example of the Croatian pastoral which has preserved some features of the bucolic but also containing elements of the pastoral model which, in its tendency to reconcile the ideal and the real, in its hope to unite Beauty, Truth and Goodness, represents one of the basic thematic and intellectual preoccupations of renaissance art. Unlike in Tirena, in Plakir, which was written towards the end of Držić's career, he created a land of shadows, peopled by products of the intellect and imagination, a world in which the poetic concept of love is deconstructed in a burlesque manner, a world in which the beautiful and the ugly, the trivial and the ideal are inseparable, although contradictory. To put it in a nutshell, the ideals of the classical pastoral are disputed and destroyed in Plakir
