Summary/Abstract: The paper reviews the specific pragmatic functions realized by metacommunicative markers in Russian media dialogic discourse as represented in radio and TV shows in the past five years. The paper is focused on the analysis of supplementive metaoperators formed by the imperative of verbs of speaking, perception or mental activities which have undergone partial or total desemanticization. The results of the analysis reveal that the linguistic units of this type are subservient to two basic areas of speech interaction: 1) optimization of the interaction with the addressee (with the use of attention attractors, politeness markers, emphasis signals, signals of communicative dissonance, etc.) and 2) organization of the dialogic discourse (with the use of interruption signals, turn-taking signals, topic transition signals, and operators introducing speech acts of argumentation, exemplification, disagreement, etc.).
