Summary/Abstract: The works of BohumilHrabal (1914–1997) have been published in Hungarian from 1965 to the present day. He is the most translated Czech author in Hungarian. The Hungarian school of comparative literature sees his writing from the 1960s as being part of the trend of central European grotesque, which Hungarian postmodernists draw on today.
