Summary/Abstract: Saint Isaac of Syria considers the books of the Bible as Holy Scriptures and rightfully refers to their divine meanings that may be gracefully understood by those enhanced with the “inner person”. Thus, for Saint Isaac, lectio divina means the four elements that actually mark spiritual progression towards eternity: from reading, going through meditation and prayer (“conversation with the Scriptures”) and ending with spiritual contemplation of realities presented/described in the Scriptures
