Summary/Abstract: Fasting is our small sacrifice that we bring to God in response to His huge sacrifice for our salvation. Fasting is our gift, the gift brought by Christians, to the table filled with presents that Christ the Lord has prepared for us. It is the heroic deed of defeating selfishness, of triumph over ourselves, of victory over the evil inside us that streams from sin and leads to sin. He prepares us, by moral drive, and leads us, by practicing virtues and deeds of Christian generosity, to untimely and eternal salvation that our Merciful Lord wants to bestow upon us all.
