Summary/Abstract: "There is little doubt that the most basic and the most commonly used word denoting things which we have to do with while speaking and which, in addition, we handle in a spezial way, in a way incomparable to what happens to objects which we also deal with, while not necessarily speaking, but rather carrying out other actions (e.g., to what happens to our interlocutors whom we, say, touch, look at or kill), is the word word. Still, the word word is not the most comprehensive term which would cover items of the speech instrumentarium known as ‘language’. [...]"
