Summary/Abstract: "The aim of this paper is to present the essence of semantic description of some natural language structures on the one hand, and a certain tool of temporal meanings formal representation, such as Petri nets, on the other hand. (Petri 1962). This tool is independent of the existing natural languages and, in this way, “indifferent” towards them. Its simplicity (it is based only on three primary concepts: state, event and their mutual relationship) and its significant power of expression predestines it to be a tertium comparationis in natural languages contrastive research. At the same time, we will be aiming at explicating some misunderstandings connected with the nets and show their applicability to describing frequently met linguistic situations. [...]"
