Immediately desist from jamming the signal – The cessation of the jamming of Radio Free Europe in 1968

Summary/Abstract: Radio stations broadcasting form the West to the countries of the Communist bloc became an important means of appealing to the latter’s citizens ideologically. Radio waves were disseminated through the ether freely and without limits across the Iron Curtain that separated Eastern and Western Europe. The communist leaders of Soviet bloc states therefore tried to create an aerial parallel to the Iron Curtain that would stretch along the western borders of their countries.
