Summary/Abstract: Missionary Coordinates in the High Priestly Prayer (John 17). The High-Priestly Prayer from the Gospel according to John, chapter 17, is a missionary rapport presented by our Lord Jesus Christ to His Father at the end of His earthly mission. Its context and its contents show this prayer to be similar to the prayer said in the Old Testament at the Day of Atonement. The main themes of the atonement ritual are reiterated by Jesus Christ and presented as perfected in His Person and activity. Therefore, through the penitence brought through His mission in the world, Jesus Christ gives again the eternal life and, this way, the reason of the existence to the creation through the knowledge of the true God and encompasses the creation in the holiness of God. He completes the Revelation about God and about the man, setting, therefore, the man in a special relation with God, Whom he can call upon Father in everyplace and every time. These missionary guidelines fulfilled by Jesus Christ stand at the very base of the mission of the Church.
