Summary/Abstract: The present article is the result of the experience of the author as both the translator of Polish literature into Spanish and Catalan, working in collaboration with the native language speaker, and the academic teacher giving classes in literary translation in bilingual groups at the University of Barcelona. Both experiences, at the beginning motivated by circumstances, have led to the elaboration of precise working methods, as well as to the formulation of a series of theoretical observations on this specific process of translation, which is a compromise between a tendency to defend the specificity of the original and a tendency to focus on the specificity of the target culture.
