Summary/Abstract: In the present paper the fight of the Muslim population of West Rodopi Mountain against the establishment of the Communist regime in Bulgaria has been analyzed. This is a poorly researched problem; my research is based on archive materials, kept in the Archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, some funds have been preserved in the district, local and village Communist party and social organizations gathered in the State Archives of Blagoevgrad. In the first part of my article I have analyzed the activities of the illegal Muslim groups acting in the region of West Rodopi, in the second -the period of the passive resistance and in the third -the measures of the Fatherland Front organization to take control on the illegal groups. In general the undertaken measures go in two main directions, namely the introduction of a borderline zone in 1946 and deportation of the Muslim population from the border region to the inside regions of the country.
