Summary/Abstract: Review: Igor Stokfiszewski Zwrot polityczny [‘A political turn’], Wydawnictwo Krytyki Politycznej, Warszawa 2009. Stokfiszewski’s title refers to a change in Polish social and cultural life, namely the process by which liberal-democratic paradigm (which in aesthetics corresponds with postmodernism, post-politics, post-tradition, and the ideology of consensus) comes to be replaced by a perspective of universalism, as well as a return to community. Stokfiszewski’s work functions as a political manifesto. However, Chmielewska questions the scope, status, and effectiveness of the transformation discussed by Stokfiszewski, as well as the diachrony into which he inscribes his discourse of a paradigm shift.
