Summary/Abstract: Plagiarism or lack of originality? Plagiarism or inaccurate citation? What does it mean to plagiarize? These are the answers we will try to fiind in the paper below, considering the Copyright Law (no. 8/1996) and the Law no. 206/2004 regarding ethics in scientific research. Taking a passage from a work without indicating the author and the title may be seen, at first sight, as a theft, an act which is blamed in the academic world and not only. But defining plagiarism is not as simple as it seems and there are some criteria which must be taken account of when analysing such an accusation. About these criteria is the present paper which has the aim to clarify some aspects concerning plagiarism.
