Summary/Abstract: Public Manager represents a special category of civil servant which contributes to the reforms in Romanian public administration. He leads, coordinates and assists the coordination of activities which, by their nature, require a general perspective and a specific level of expertise as compared to those of other categories of civil servants. The main objective was focused on identification of public managers leadership style (Avolio & Bass). In order to reach the above objective we have asked 101 public managers enroled in the YPS program to fill in the MLQ – Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire. Low scores were obtained for passive/avoidant leadership, respectively at MBEP (management by exception – passive) and LF (laissez-faire – avoids involvement) scales. High scores were shown on transformational leadership scales, respective IB (idealized influence – acts with integrity), IM (inspirational motivation – inspires others) and IS (intellectual stimulation – encourages innovative thinking).
