Emotional Reactions of Women Victims of Domestic Violence

Summary/Abstract: What do female victims of Domestic Violence feel? What feelings do women involved in an abusive relationship experience, both during and after breaking that relationship? Which are the „psychological” barriers occurring in women shortly after leaving their violent intimate partner? This paper highlights by summarizing some Domestic Violence cases how certain women’ subjective feelings (the fear, the guilt, the shame, the helplessness, the disbelief) may influence the readiness to end a domestic violence relationship or to remain in that relationship.
