Summary/Abstract: The progress of globalization requires from market participants to deliver higher and higher quality products and services. Small and medium-sized enterprises also have to meet conditions set by the biggest players in the market. However, limited financial resources strongly determine decisions concerning further development. In the era of rapid technological progress, the lack of investment in the IT area often determines success or failure of a small business. In the era of the available solutions offered by the development of cloud computing taking advantage of the available offer of IT services enables businesses to benefit from the highest quality software, without making investments, which ensures optimum concentration of resources on core business activities. At the same time the use of first-class technical knowhow, so far available only for the biggest and wealthiest companies, gives equal opportunity for SMEs to present their innovation, not intruded on predetermined organizational charts. The aim of the study is an overview of available models of IT outsourcing for the SME sector, with special emphasis on outsourcing software of the highest quality, as a method of reducing technological backwardness. The study of the problem is led by the author using the method of participant observation, as an employee of the BPO sector.
