INTELLECTUAL FORMATION OF THE ROMANIAN OFFICERS – FROM TRADITION TO DIGITAL ERA

Summary/Abstract: Over the time, the intellectual formation of the officers has been a constant concern in the Romanian higher military educational system, and the answers to the question ,,What are the intellectual abilities needed by the officer to succeed in his profession?” depended on the evolution of warfare and the pedagogical views of each period. On our opinion, the digital era poses several challenges in using intellectual working tools (efficient lecture and information management) and in learning motivation. The aim of this paper is to do a comparative analysis on intellectual formation of the Romanian officers in the traditional higher military educational system and in the digital era, as well as to suggest some solutions to answer the challenges at the beginning of the 21st century.
