Summary/Abstract: This work deals with the turnover of Henry Lefl of Lazany. Henry Lefl of Lazany, who was originally in the service of king Wenceslas IV, changed his mind and appeared in the service of the Czech king’s stepbrother Sigismund of Luxembourg. This particular political career of Lefl can illustrate how a group of Sigismund’s followers could gradually emerge among the closest fellowmen of Wenceslas IV in the very last years of his reign. Even though we cannot provide authoritative sources supporting our conjectures to a greater extent, it seems that Lefl remained faithful to Wenceslas until the end of the council of Constance when the vibrant Sigismund of Luxembourg started to play an important role in politics. This was probably the main impetus for the loyal servants of the Prague court that made them realize that being excessively hesitant can push them into political isolation. From this point of view this Lefl’s gambit can be considered as an attempt to secure the opportunity for developing his further political career in the service of the successor of the throne.
