Summary/Abstract: This paper intended to raise awareness of the fact that nowadays, in the digital age, connecting and developing relationships with other professionals via web-based platforms has gained paramount importance. Professional networking on web-based platforms can enhance one’s career and professional development. Therefore, expending one’s professional network facilitates one’s connection to the global network. This paper has focused on presenting some useful netiquette rules that should be taken into consideration by academics when communicating in on-line contexts. In addition, the paper analyses some web-based platforms which aim to provide professional networking possibilities.
